  • 400 grams elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • to taste salt and pepper

    Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente, drain.

    Melt butter in pot, whisk in flour to make roux.

    Gradually whisk in milk, cook until thickened.

    Remove from heat, stir in cheeses until melted.
