  • 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 sheets pie crust
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

    Mix sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.

    Roll out bottom crust and place in pie dish.

    Pour apple mixture into crust, dot with butter.

    Roll out top crust, place over apples.

    Trim, seal, and crimp edges. Cut vents in top crust.

    Brush top with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar if desired.

    Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F.
